Welcome to the Land of the Forgotten Covenant, an inclusive social community built around the game Chronicles of Elyria (info about the game can be found here) where people can make friends in and outside of the game. On this page you will find topics that lay out the vision for a positive community which gives members the chance to be a part of creating a bustling hub of activity in the world. A place for stories to begin or end, where anything might happen!
The Land of the Forgotten Covenant (Coventry) will be a grand county on the US West server with the goal of becoming a crossroads of travel and trade. This land will recognize the importance of an abundant countryside where land owners and those who live off the land are supported and protected as well as the importance of a strong county seat that supports thriving industries and administrates all areas of the county. Thus the overall goals will be two fold.
To build a city that:
Establishes land and sea trade routes to serve as a hub for commerce
Develops as a center of knowledge and culture that attracts people throughout the world
Supports education and provides accomodations for scholars and partnerships with private groups
Supports development of key industries like shipbuilding, banking, mapmaking, hospitality, and insurance
Supports groups dedicated to these areas
Leverages these strengths to build a knowledge based economy that supports industry and skilled labor
Produces quality goods and services that will attract traders and clients from a variety of markets
Provides access to international markets for goods produced throughout the county
Acts as a staging point for adventure and exploration
Constructs a port that facilitates these activities and generates revenues for infrastructure upkeep
Creates a guard corps to discourage criminal activities, maintain order, and prevent sabotage
Creates an investigative agency to investigate contract disputes, crimes, and fraud
Pursues a system of justice that seeks to punish lawbreakers and enforce sensible contracts within reason

To establish a countryside that:
Supports establishment of settlements to foster local communities, industries, and resource development
Builds infrastructure to support trade and travel between neighboring lands and the port
Has access to knowledge to aid in development of local industries
Develops trade relationships between local industries and port markets
Builds strategic defenses to counter threats foreign and domestic
Creates armed forces to assault encroaching threats and protect the property of land owners

The Count will provide certain benefits to those who visit and settle in the county. Some of these will materialize as the county makes progress on the above goals. These include:
A welcoming atmosphere to all who wish to join and visit
A count interested in community and governance of the land rather than simple domination
A count that will provide the ability to connect with the community via forums and discord
A county that creates incentives to groups that result in benefits for citizens and the economy
For example: easy access to education, often at a discount
Defense of the land that includes upholding land owners property rights within reason
A county that considers the importance of supporting and listening to all four major roles: Suppliers, Producers, Explorers, Champions
Of particular importance is the allowance of those with plausable ideas of merit to be supported by the county without fear of confiscation of products or undue tax burden. A prosperous county is built by the investment of its successful citizens with government providing additional infrastructure where needed. While the Count's ministers will provide organization, private groups in partnership with local organizations will be given the opportunity to build key industries and institutions in the county.
The county will create a meta between structures of governance in the game and the related community outside of the game by reaching out to many groups and types of players in game and opening the county to travelers from all over, and having an inclusive social community online that is open to everybody. In keeping with this spirit the Count asks that people refrain from hurtful and abusive language or conversation, however, some good natured joking or s*** talking is good fun within limits. Basically don't be a dick.
Creating a strong and successful county and online community requires good governance and one person can't do it on their own. So the Count will be looking for people who want to join in creating this county to form a sort of inner circle or administration to govern.

Those that become a County Minister will be delegated a facet of the county to run and be granted authority and command over that area. The Count will still be involved, but having ministers will allow the Count to hear ideas from others and consider different ideas and opinions rather than dictating all policy. There are many different areas that may benefit from focused managment.
Building and Construction
Agriculture and Environment
Some might be thinking that this would be boring and take away from the gameplay experience that they want to have, and for many this will be true, but consider that these roles will be among some the best ways to dig down into social aspects of CoE. Unlike many MMO's this game will require dealing with other players, and helping to run part of a county will put ministers in contact with a lot of people in social situations they might never experience otherwise.
Consider some possible examples:
You are the Minister of Building and Construction. You are acting as the city planner for the county seat and working with builders as an architect to create blueprints for structures to be built in the city. You have to determine what structures will work where and how to organize things to consider defense, moving trade and supplies through the city, and setting up districts that make sense so that types of buildings are not randomly scattered throughout the city. You work with the Count and other ministers to take as many considerations into account as possible. You also work with players who will be building the structures to organize all the building plans and contract with them and suppliers for building materials. You are trying to find materials that will work for the buildings and be durable enough not to need constant upkeep. You may also work with mayors and barons to help with their cities and projects and work on infrastructure projects all over the county. You will continue to direct maintanence and improvments and report budgets and costs to the Count and other ministers.
You are the Minister of Maritime Affairs. You are initially working with researchers of the Citadel's Lycaeum to upgrade boats into vessels that can sail or row along the coasts. You may work with the Minister of Building and Construction to build port facilities and shipyards and supervise shipbuilding by securing materials and estimating and reporting costs to the Count and ministers. As you organize ships into a military and sell ships to merchants (or they pay you to use the shipyards) you must work with others to set up harbors for navy and merchant fleets. You will also be working with others to manage ports and collect port fees from visiting ships to dock. You may also help create registries of ships and flag types so the county can know who is coming and going, who is friendly and who is a pirate or enemy that needs to be arrested and their ship impounded. You may also work with others to keep ships and cargo flowing through the ports and act as or provide resources and orders to naval commanders.
You are the Minister of Commerce. You speak to members of other kingdoms and counties to set up trade deals, preferably of goods that result in a favorable balance of trade for the county and without ruining local economies and businesses. You work with guild leaders, the Minister of Education, the Minister of Building and Construction, and countless others to set up business, trade, and development of various types of capital in the city. You are also working to promote the establishment of businesses throughout the county and speak with mayors and barons and those trying to set up businesses and resource development projects. Many have big ideas, but just need the capital to get started. Many of these have no real plans for success, but a few do. You bring these plans to the Count and ministers to review which should be given the opportunity for loans. Your constant concern is that business has the resources it needs at a resonable cost to keep up production and still be profitable. You also speak with the Count regularly about taxes. From time to time you may also plan events that draw people to different parts of the county and give an economic boost. You may choose to delegate this to an event planner since it is very detailed work.
You are the Minister of Defense. You are working with barons and other settlements and the Minister of Building and Construction to create forts and other defenses throughout the county. You work with settlements to maintain militias for when needed and work with the Count to secure funding and resources for guard and military forces. You directly interact with leaders of various forces allied with the county and may even manage mercenary forces. Many groups have their own leaders that you work with to provide land for bases, equipment, and training. You may also work through discord to indentify threats so forces can be dispatched. You work with intelligence to keep track of the militaries of other kingdoms and neigbors and the battles and wars they are fighting. You keep the Count and ministers apprised of these developments. In the case of war you will become the Count's right hand as you work together to marshal forces and make strategic plans and you work with everyone to deal with the logistics of forces and battles.
The Count understands that people who chose to undertake such tasks are deserving of rewards for their time and effort. Some rewards will be availiable to all and some may vary on a case by case basis (or not), there is much that remains to be understood of the game mechanics after all, and many of these will be difficult to provide in the earliest days of the game. These could include:
Direct payment for services
County financing of expenses
Provision of lodging in town or other areas of the county
Provision of land

The Count will also be looking for mayors and barons to help with the development of the countryside. These vital members of the community will have their own unique place, with a discord channel open only to them, the Count, and the ministers to discuss matters on, and their own forum section where only they can start threads to promote their settlements and other topics. The Count would like to extend the benefits developed from the county seat through to them. There will also be forum sections for guild leaders and busnesses to promote their ventures.
Count von Zoidberg understands that at the county level in CoE working for the people and earning their favor is the duty of a count. The use of forums and voice chat to give all a voice is an important step in meeting that duty and will also allow for coordination between ministers and to keep lines of communication open between mayors/barons and the Count. This also means the Count will expect that those who do join as an minister, mayor, or barron take a similar attitude toward members of the community and not needlessly lord their position over others.
The formation of the county is in early stages and only so much can be determined with the game still in early development phases. The Count prefers to create general plans and build on that as more information is made known. With land selection looming in the following weeks the Count has become a proud member of the Kingdom of Aranor. This kingdom will provide plenty of options to find a suitable area with coastline for the county's plans, and the county should have plenty of IP to be able to choose land before most counts. Some forum topics will also be open to those who are interested in asking questions or discussing any of this, or even proposing alliances or pledges one way or another.
